Project Title

Multi-scale characterisation of porosity and permeability for Malaysian carbonate reservoir rocks supported by numerical simulations

Abstract

The usage of modern imaging tools such as nano-, micro- and X-ray CT, confocal microscopy and SEM allow us to characterise porosity in carbonate rocks at multiple length scales. However, none of the mentioned tool can cover all multiple representative elementary volumes and extrapolate a valid porosity-permeability relationship at all scales. Thus, this project aims to tackle multi-scale upscaling problem to solve the heterogeneous behaviour and the presence of microporosity for Malaysian carbonate reservoir rocks.
