In the course of finding sites of interest for this Newsletter, I sometimes come across Web sites which I feel deserve slightly more than a passing mention. Each month I will try to pick out one or more such sites, and give them a short review. The sites will normally be UK based, may be small or large, and be of interest or potential interest to academics. After lengthy discussions I have decided, with incredible creativity :-), to call these: Nice Web Sites. Details of previous Nice Web Sites are available in the Nice Web Site Archive.

Catherine Sladen edited these learning materials, which were funded by the Foundation for Management Education, and are available in print as a clearly set-out book, and also at this Web site.
In the Preface, the funders state that "We believe that the rapid growth of the Internet, and of the materials available online, offers the opportunity to make higher education more widely available and to enhance the learning experience of us all. We have therefore funded the production and distribution of this set of materials by the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) at Bristol University. It is specifically aimed at MBA students and their teachers, but undoubtedly could and we hope will have wider application."
This is a guide to high quality Internet materials and sites that can be used by both students and staff to support MBA studies and contains sections written by experts in their respective academic fields. Each author has written an introduction to his section which highlights why he uses the Internet and sets the scene for the sections to come. The materials are grouped under six main subject headings/chapters, each of which forms a component of most MBA programmes. The sections are Accounting and Finance, Business Economics, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Operations Management, and Strategy.
Every Business School in the UK has been sent one copy of a printed double-sided, 'reference' version, and one copy of a single-sided, "photo-copyable" version of this booklet. Everything contained in the printed version is available at this site, along with links to the resources described.
Altogether a nice Web site.
