Research

Anton Storey’s research interests are centered on the design and experience of human-computer interaction for virtual environments and metaverse systems. He focuses on adapting semiotic theories of signs and symbols to develop novel interaction paradigms suited to these worlds.

Anton is specifically interested in the potential for semiotic abstractions to enhance usability, appeal, comprehension, and accessibility in virtual interaction spaces that lack real-world affordances. His past work has involved reviewing literature with a view to building conceptual frameworks that propose the integration of semiotics into next-generation experiential platforms enabled by metaverse contexts.

Anton aims to formulate widely applicable guidelines for semiotics-driven user experience design that can make emergent mixed reality ecosystems more intuitive and impactful for diverse participation across social, creative, educational, and e-commerce domains.
