6. Cedrus libani

The Cedar of Lebanon is native to the Mediterranean region. Mature trees can be 40 metres (130 feet) tall. This one is around 18 metres (55-60 feet) high. It stood intact until storms in 2010/11 caused significant damage. A younger tree has since been planted next to it. The coral was built around it to protect the public as these trees can lose branches without warning. The wood is prized and used in furniture making and construction. Cedar resin and Cedar essential oil are also highly prized extracts from the timber and cones.
